Northumberland

'Northumberland' is a collection of forty-four images created between 2004 and 2006 in my home county of Northumberland.

Until recently, the county of Northumberland seemed to be one of England's best-kept secrets. Along the coastline there are long stretches of golden sand that even at the height of summer remained empty. There are areas of countryside with a stark and compelling beauty that were seen by only a small number of visitors. The county also has a rich history that is more full of incident and character than any library of books could ever hope to possibly convey, and yet who heard these stories? It was as though Northumberland was just for the Northumbrians and any visitor lucky enough to discover the area. But now this ‘secret kingdom' is far better known outside its borders, and there has been a steadily growing interest in the county. The astonishing success of the Hadrian's Wall Path, opened in May 2003, has exceeded all expectations, and further north the Alnwick Gardens is an extremely popular tourist attraction.

One of the reasons for this growing interest in Northumberland has been the increase in the popularity of fine art landscape photography. The diverse images of landscape photographers working in Northumberland have played their part in teaching people about the ample charms and delights of this uniquely blessed area. I hope the photographs in this book are seen as my small contribution to this celebration of the county of Northumberland, a place I am proud to work in and also call home.

The book is 9x7 inches and is a perfect bound softback with a high gloss cover. The book is published by Lulu and can be bought from their online store by clicking on the image above. Lulu is a 'print on demand' service and when the book is ordered it will be printed and shipped directly from them. The typical lead time for delivery is one to two weeks depending on the chosen shipping option. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the book, though please note that I do not stock the book personally.
