111 Places in Newcastle that you shouldn’t miss

Facing each other across the River Tyne, Newcastle and Gateshead are a heady mix of culture and commerce. Both were industrial powerhouses during the 19th century, but have embraced recent change – reinventing themselves through new architecture and new industries, as well as gaining a reputation for being party towns for young and old alike.

This is my most personal book yet, written about my home town of Newcastle. What was so wonderful about writing it is that it helped me see both Newcastle and Gateshead with new eyes. I also discovered new aspects of both towns that I’d not previously been aware of – how I got this far without visiting the Lit & Phil I’ll never know. I hope you have as much fun exploring the places in this book as I had writing about them.
